Integrity derives from the word "integrate." People with integrity have unified all their virtues and beliefs into a harmonious whole that is larger than the sum of the individual virtues. A synergistic energy is created as an individual begins to master his or her virtues. As these virtues come together, they begin to annihilate the vices. Consequently a trader with integrity will possess a spirit that is indomitable. While most people are honest, few possess integrity in the full sense of the word. |

It may appear that there is a subtle difference between honesty and integrity; let me assure you that there is a huge difference. Do you think that an honest person could lack faith, have no confidence, be a coward, have the discipline of a jellyfish, and possess no intuition? Without a doubt honesty is a virtue that all traders must possess. Integrity is the summation of all the virtues. People with integrity will hold themselves to a higher standard than just being honest. Integrity requires mastering and integrating all the virtues and beliefs we have been discussing. A trader can possess some of the desired character traits and have no integrity. Yet a trader with integrity will possess all the virtues, many of which are not mentioned in this book. |
